Learn about Neurological Rehabilitation?

As a sub-specialty within physical therapy, neurological rehabilitation can have many different components and work with many different diagnoses. The most common seen in physical therapy is post-stroke rehabilitation. Therapy will focus on improve strength, balance, and coordination in order to regain as much function and mobility as possible. Holmes PT has specialized equipment to allow for dynamic balance training and progressively challenging the body to maximize improvement.

When to Start Physical Therapy?

When managing a neurological diagnosis, there is always a role for physical therapy. Even if one believes they do not have limitations or deficits, physical therapy can maximize and maintain that high level of function. Working with a Primary Care Physician and/or Neurologist can help determine when it is right to begin physical therapy. Often, maintaining the current level is the goal for physical therapy to avoid regression or loss of strength and mobility.
